RECOMMENDED GEAR and TIPS

** NO BLACK SOLED SHOES: FOR THE CAPTAINS SANITY PLEASE WEAR SOFT SOLED SHOES THAT DO NOT HAVE BLACK SOLES**

  * CONTACTING YOUR CAPTAIN THE NIGHT PRIOR TO FISHING:  If we are scheduled to fish, it is requested that you contact me the evening prior to our first scheduled fishing date between the hours of 5pm and 8pm so that we can finalize our plans.  If I do not hear from you the evening prior to our first scheduled fishing date, I will not automatically show up at the dock.

 * FISHING LICENSE: I have a fishing license and all my guided anglers are covered under my license.  You are NOT required to have a Florida fishing license when fishing in State waters and you have hired a guide licensed in the State of Florida.

 * FOOD AND DRINKS: Anglers are responsible for bringing their own food and drink as well as the recommended gear. Please make sure that you bring plenty of water, drinks and food.  Some of the areas we may fish are extremely remote and the nearest marina may be an hour away.

 * RECOMMENDED GEAR: Anglers are responsible for bringing a good set of foul weather gear (jacket and pants), soft soled shoes that do not have black soles, two pairs of polarized sun glasses (amber or rose lenses), two hats, sun block (at least 30 spf), light colored clothing, enough clothing to cover up from the sun when necessary, a warm wind breaker unless your rain jacket is suitable for keeping you warm.  If you don’t have foul weather gear, foul weather gear can be provided upon request.

 * PRACTICE BEFORE YOUR TRIP: When stalking and sight casting to fish on the flats, whether with a fly rod or spinning tackle, one of the keys to enjoying success will be accurate casting and in some cases, pin point casting.  Practicing your casting will improve your odds of success.  Flats’ fishing is a team sport and you’re only as good as your guide and your guide is only as good as his or her angler.  Practice, Practice, Practice, you’ll be glad you did.
